Thanksgiving Batch of Clemency Decisions Released by Governor Rauner

11/22/2017

Today, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner released 102 decisions on executive clemency petitions prior to the Thanksgiving Day vacation. Of the 102, five were granted pardons and 97 petitions were denied. The offenses that were pardoned included burglary, theft, and drug charges. Those granted pardons will now be eligible to have their cases expunged.

Congratulations to those receiving their much-earned pardons! For those denied, keep in mind that recent changes to Illinois law may now allow for your cases to be sealed instead.

Please forward me a copy. I would like to know if i am one of the 5 granted clemency. Can i appear in springfield next session in front of the Illinois prison review board and appeal if i am not approved? What is the next step ? Do I have to wait 6 months? Wait a year? Before I reapply? Thankyou.

Harry if you are denied your petition you have to wait one year before you can petition for another pardon.

You have to wait a year from the date you were denied.

If you are denied I would wait until we have a new Governor. Have you checked into having your record sealed. Attorney Chavez just had my felony record sealed and now I have some relief until I am able to file for a pardon.

Harry, I waited four years to be denied the first time. I had my second hearing in July this year. I also have the sept and nov list for this year. You are not in the November list, but I can still email them to you if you provide me with your email address. Good luck.

Rauner grants 8 clemency petitions, denies 85 others
Yesterday August 31,2018
CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner has granted eight requests for clemency and denied 85 other petitions.

Rauner's office announced the clemencies Friday. They continue the Republican's practice of approving requests at a far lower rate than his predecessor, Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn.

The petitions granted were for crimes including burglary, theft, drug possession and delivery of a controlled substance. Some of the cases are decades old, and in most cases the people were sentenced to probation.
