Rauner Acts on 64 Clemency Petitions

5/30/2018

The Illinois Prisoner Review Board announced that Governor Bruce Rauner released a new batch of executive clemency decisions, granting five and denying 59. Of the petitions which were granted pardons, the convictions ranged from 1977 to 2007, and included drug offenses, theft, and burglary.

Congratulations to those receiving their much-earned pardons! For those denied, keep in mind that recent changes to Illinois law may now allow for your criminal record to be sealed instead.

Are these 64 decisions based on all petitions submitted for the April 2018 hearing dates or will more be released at a later date?

Non of them are probably from April. The first time I applied took 4 years to get declined. This time it took 1 year to get declined. I've seen people take 4-5 years to get granted. Unfortunately this governor has a very low percentage of approvals.

Corey, thank you for the information. I know he has low approvals but the backlog had been cleared, I just did not know how far along the process was and if he was still current.

Does anyone know what set of petitions he is on? Are any of them from October of 2017? I know my petition went in front of the board for their recommendation in October and I haven't heard anything yet.

Where can you find the names at on the clemency list or can You? I went in front of the board in April of 2018.

Wesley. . . I am trying to find out how to get the list as well. However, it appears to be difficult to acquire. Be that as it may, I was also at the April 2018 hearing and I have heard nothing from the last release (May 30ish). Above, Jackie stated she had not heard anything from the October day. Thus, I conjecture that he has fallen behind again. Though he is most likely far more current than the last few governors, he is not completely current. To that end, I believe we keep waiting.
