Outgoing Governor Quinn Issues Final Batch of Clemency Decisions

1/12/2015

In Governor Quinn's last day in office, he released his final batch of decisions on clemency petitions.  The final batch contains 43 granted and 119 denied.  Quinn's total numbers for his time as governor are 4,928 clemency decisions, with 1,795 granted and 3,133 denied.

That is tremendous work for Quinn's six years in Springfield.  The Bryant Chavez Law Office would like to extend its gratitude to Quinn for taking his pardon power seriously and showing the mercy and compassion that is fit for the Chief Executive of Illinois.  Thank you!

Congratulations to the 43 that were able to get their petitions granted today!  I am sure the pardons are befitting the years of hard work and rehabilitation you have put into improving your lives.  For the rest that are still pending, good luck and may we see Governor Rauner live up to the standard set by his predecessor!

What a good job Gov. Quinn did trying to catch things up. Still about 2000 undecided petitions. Hopefully someone will post a link to the list or e-mail it. [email protected]
Best to everyone here. Let's hope Gov. Rauner will be just as merciful and diligant about the backlog.

Now that I look at this list through my laptop I see docket dates. Is that when they went in-front of board? This must be like a lottery picking. I thought they might be going in order but I seen before different years. They must be picking some from each year and from the different times through out that year. I congratulate those that have their but is a real let down to be waiting so long. Mine is from July of 2012 and I seen July 2012 on there. I hope and pray this new Governor does some on Easter.

God bless this website! I found out today that I received my pardon after waiting for 4 years! Praise God for this wonderful blessing! I urge everyone to stay in constant prayer over these and all the tough situations they may be experiencing in their lives. God's glory is immense!
I also want to thank all the great attorneys like Tamara Holder and Mr. Chavez for pouring their heart out and taking a leap of faith to help others. I will definitely strive to be better everyday because of great Americans like you!

I'm still waiting 😞 I have only been waiting a year though so I'm not surprised. Really hoping to hear something soon though. I'm trying to move closer to the college so I can get my bachelor's degree but I can't find any place to rent with my record. I didn't realize this process took so long so I had already filled out fasfa paperwork to go to school this term, I figured a year would be plenty of time to hear something, but was unable to go to school since I still can't get a place to rent to me 😞😞😞

I was recently sent my denial letter for my pardon. I don't understand this system. I have led an honorable and clean life for 15 years and I could not get a charge for possession of a stolen vehicle wiped out.

My question is did all of you seek your pardon on your own or did you hire help to assist you in the process. I did it all my self and obviously that didn't work. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction so I can make a second attempt. please send to [email protected] Thank you

Jason, I recently received a pardon for felonies from 2003. I spent 2k on a lawyer to help me with my pardon. Every 6 months I wrote a letter to the prisoner review board letting them know what I have accomplished since my arrest. In addition, I met with my senator, who seemed to do little for me. I suggest a lawyer and remember, squeeky wheel gets heard. Good luck on your next pardon petition.

I received word that my pardon was approved on Jan 7th, 2015 but I have yet to hear anything more as of this date, 3/6/15. How long does it take to get instructions on what to do next?
thank you

Same here. I was told there are only 3 people in the office associated with sending out the letters. I am frustrated as well. I hate to say hang in there. I just got turned down from another job at Robert half technology. I have the skills set but even with the pardon they disqualified me.

Frustrating that we wait for years and then we wait again!
