But now with the change in the law, most felony convictions become eligible for sealing without the need for special approval. The new law takes effect immediately. If you have a case the was previously only eligible for a pardon, contact my office to see if the new law applies to you.
Governor Rauner signed a bill today that expands the number of cases eligible for sealing in Illinois. Previously, most misdemeanors and only a select few felonies were eligible for sealing. If you were convicted of a low-level felony that wasn't specifically eligible, then you likely could petition the Prisoner Review Board to gain sealing eligibility. For anyone not eligible for this relief, the only option was to seek clemency from the Governor.

I pled guilty to a Class 1 drug felony in exchange for a probation plea I have no prior criminal record whatsoever ( at age 50 ). It is a 2013 case with a 2014 conviction date. My probation was released 32 months early. But since having a felony conviction, employment and advancement has become extremely difficult. So is it possible to expunge a Class 1 drug felony under the recent changes.

I was charged with a domestic battery charge, it was a misdemeanor charge. The first lawyer I had didn’t represent me properly, I had no idea what was going on. I was not guilty , and didn’t do anything to be charged with this. I ended up hiring a new lawyer who appealed the charge for me, but it was initially denied. Is there anything I can do about this? I can give you all the transcripts and anything else needed. I just want this cleared from my record. I was wrongfully charged. Thanks
