170 Clemency Decisions Made by Governor Rauner for Labor Day Weekend

9/3/2015

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner released 170 executive clemency decisions on this Friday before Labor Day weekend. He granted seven petitions and denied 163. This is Governor Rauner's fourth set of petitions since taking office. According to the Governor's office, nearly 1,500 petitions remain in the backlog built up under previous administrations.

As always, congratulations to those that were granted clemency! For those that were denied or are still pending, don't give up hope! Your chance may still come.

Governor Quinn granted ~36% of the petitions he reviewed while in office. To date, Governor Rauner has granted between 3% - 4%.

Unfortunately, it seems petitioners struggling to turn their lives around and prove their rehabilitation are 10 times LESS likely to receive grace from the current governor.

Perhaps petitioners should apply to Harvard University. Governor Rauner’s Alma Mater is one of the most exclusive private universities in the country. They accept only 5.9% of those who apply.

Regrettably, you still have a better chance getting into Harvard then receiving a pardon from this governor.

Wow this Governor's record of forgiveness couldn't be any more pathetic.
BTW how do you know if you are denied, as 90+% are experiencing? Do they send you a letter?

Yes they do send a letter telling you if you are denied. Just got mine in the mail after 3 years of waiting. Unfortunately it looks like Gov Rauner doesn't care about reforming your life.

Does anyone have the list of approvals for November? If so could you please send me a copy? Bradbreahjacobs@yahoo.com. I see he only approved 10 and denied 200 one of which was me. Wondering what he is approving considering mine was such a petty crime over 20 years ago.
